Search the Pictures in Print database - advanced

This page provides a series of alternative ways of searching the database without using the index terms. It is strongly recommended that you start by searching using the index terms. It is not necessary to distinguish between capital and lower case letters.
Any text typed in the boxes below will automatically be treated as part of a possible phrase when submitted - that is "London" will find [London] or "wash" would find images including washing or washerwomen, those created by pen and wash, and one entitled "Washington Ferry".

Free text search

This box provides a search of the title (if the print or map had a title) and description fields of the database and so can provide a useful alternative means of looking for images. For example, a search for "fishing" will retrieve many images which include an angler.
